# Tomb slab of Lorenzo Trenta [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [QUERCIA, Jacopo della]() - Date: 1401-1450 - Technique: Marble ## Commentary Jacopo also designed for the Trenta chapel in San Frediano the tomb effigies of Lorenzo Trenta \(d 1439\) and his wife, Isabetta Onesti \(d 1426\). The tomb slabs, set into the pavement in front of the altar, have suffered considerable wear. Compared to the high relief of the Ilaria monument, the Trenta tombs offered only a moderate degree of projection. Lorenzo Trenta is shown recumbent with his head, swathed in a voluminous turban, resting on a huge pillow. His body is slightly inclined towards his wife. The effigy of Isabetta complements that of her husband, although she appears to be more active, her drapery more agitated and linear.
