## Commentary

Study for Venus and Psyche c. 1518 Red chalk over stylus, 265 x 197 mm Musée du Louvre, Paris This drawing is a study for the &lt;a onclick=&#34;return OpenOther\(&#39;/html/r/raphael/5roma/4a/14farnes.html&#39;\)&#34; href=&#34;/html/r/raphael/5roma/4a/14farnes.html&#34;&gt;Venus and Psyche&lt;/a&gt; composition in the Loggia di Psyche in the Villa Farnesina, Rome. The authorship of the drawing is debated, the red chalk studies for the Loggia have been attributed variously to Raphael, Giulio Romano or Giovan Francesco Penni.
