## Commentary

This engraving was made after a &lt;A onclick=&#34;return OpenOther\(&#39;/html/g/greco\_el/15/1504grec.html&#39;\)&#34; HREF=&#34;/html/g/greco\_el/15/1504grec.html&#34;&gt;painting by El Greco&lt;/A&gt; \(now in the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa\). Prints played a key role in religious propaganda. In the Hispanic world, it was Dutch artists who performed this task.
