# Exterior view [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [NICCOLINI, Antonio]() - Date: 1801-1850 - Technique: Photo ## Commentary The Neoclassical façade of the Teatro San Carlo was grafted 1810-11 on the building erected in 1737 by Giovanni Antonio Medrano \(born 1703\). An Ionic colonnade is inserted like a decorative strip between closed corner blocks which continue upwards as pylons.
