- Date: 1451-1500
- Technique: Mixed technique on pine panel, 177 x 112 cm

## Commentary

This panel, with three others, belonged to the high altar of the church of St Michael, Hof. Pleydenwurff executed it with the participation of assistants in his workshop. The Resurrection is the supreme miracle, when Jesus triumphs over death. The challenge for painters was to reveal Christ as divine, transcending the limits of ordinary humanity. Pleydenwurff chose to do this by the intensity of facial expression.
