## Commentary

Bernero was a pupil of the Collino brothers in Turin. He executed between 1769 and 1772 a graceful suite of marble figures for the royal hunting lodge at Stupinigi. The figures celebrate mythological figures associated with the hunt. Orion typifies Bernero&#39;s independent stance towards the Classical models he studied in Rome.
