## Commentary

The picture shows the handle of the pastoral staff in the form of a &#34;tau&#34; \(Greek &#34;T&#34;\). The staff belonged to Abbot Morard who was in office between 990 and 1014 in Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris.
