# The Parlor of the Nuns at San Zaccaria [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [GUARDI, Francesco]() - Date: 1751-1800 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 108 x 208 cm ## Commentary Guardi started with figure painting, went on to religious subjects, and was attracted by the complicity and Casanova-like atmosphere of Venetian interiors before taking up veduta painting in the wake of, and attracted by the success of, Canaletto. The Parlor of the Nuns at San Zaccaria, and the Ridotto \(both in Ca' Rezzonico\) are the best examples of his interiors.
