# Joachim and Anne Meeting at the Golden Gate [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [GADDI, Taddeo]() - Date: 1301-1350 - Technique: Fresco ## Commentary Joachim and Anne Meeting at the Golden Gate c. 1330 Fresco Cappella Baroncelli, Santa Croce, Florence This scene at middle left on the east wall, shows not just the city gate, as in <a onclick="return OpenOther\('/html/g/giotto/padova/1joachim/joachi6.html'\)" href="/html/g/giotto/padova/1joachim/joachi6.html">Giotto's depiction</a> of the same scene, but also, above a tall crenellated wall, a panorama of the city, that extends across nearly the entire width of the painting.
