# Head of Francesco Foscari [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [BON, Bartolomeo]() - Date: 1401-1450 - Technique: Marble, height 36 cm ## Commentary This head, now in the Museum of the Ducal Palace, was commissioned by Francesco Foscari for the Porta della Carta. The end of the doge's nose and much of his left eyebrow are modern replacements. Recently a quite different attribution and date were suggested, and the identity of the subject was also debated.
