# Exterior view [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [ARCHITECT, German]() - Date: 1151-1200 - Technique: Photo ## Commentary The Worms Cathedral was built shortly after 1130. The whole building must have been completed by 1181 except for the west choir. The smallest and last of the three imperial cathedrals to be completed, it is the most unified stylistically and the clearest example of the late Staufen concept of architecture. In the west the nave ends in a polygonal choir termination which is flanked by round towers. The polygonal choir termination was a new feature, as until this time there had only been semi-circular apses or flat terminated choirs. The photo shows the choir.
