## Commentary

The engraving was designed by Maerten van Heemskerck. As Vasari commented, the many engravings that Heemskerck had made in Haarlem from his own drawings after his return from his stay in Rome \(1532-1536/37\) were often &#34;very much in the Italian style.&#34;
