# Male Head in Profile and Leg Studies \(recto\) [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MICHELANGELO Buonarroti]() - Date: 1501-1550 - Technique: Red chalk, 265 x 195 mm ## Commentary The head on the recto of this sheet is related to the <a onclick="return OpenOther\('/html/m/michelan/3sistina/2ignudi/07\_4se.html'\)" href="/html/m/michelan/3sistina/2ignudi/07\_4se.html">Ignudo</a> at the right above the Persian Sibyl on the Sistine ceiling. The face on the head study has the same expression of startled surprise and astonishment as the one in the fresco.
