## Commentary

The ceiling opens upon a luminous sky, where the gods of the Olympus are arranged on clouds, in a complex and expansive composition. Crosato certainly would have been familiar with Tiepolo&#39;s works which he specifically cites in certain details. But here he offers proof of his great knowledge of the theatre world, in which he had long been involved as a set designer. His figures function like expressive actors performing in a play.
