## Commentary

Vertumnus and Pomona 1700s Oil on canvas, 65 x 54 cm The Hermitage, St. Petersburg Hoet depicted mainly religious, mythological or classical subjects set in landscapes, which were painted on a small scale in the Dutch Italianate style of van Poelenburgh.
