At the beginning of the Prologue in volume one \(folio 3r\), the miniature shows Pliny on the left handing over a scroll with the dedication of his work to Emperor Titus. The small figure of the miniaturist sits on the tree separating the author and the emperor.He holds a scroll with the inscription 'Petrus de Slagosia me fecit"; this is therefore the self-portrait and signature of the illuminator. ## Attribution [Web Gallery of Art]()
