## Commentary

The two panel paintings in the Prague museum, The Crucifixion and The Madonna and Child Enthroned, originally formed a portable altar. An interesting point in the iconography of the two panel paintings is a small cross held by the Infant Jesus in his left hand. The less usual motif is related to the text of the Gospel, &#34;If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me&#34; \(Mt. 16, 24\).
