## Commentary

The architecture in the landscape garden at Stourhead have some similarity with the architecture in Claude Lorrain&#39;s painting &lt;a onclick=&#34;return OpenOther\(&#39;/html/c/claude/3/07delos.html&#39;\)&#34; href=&#34;/html/c/claude/3/07delos.html&#34;&gt;Landscape with Aeneas at Delos,&lt;/a&gt; now in the National Gallery in London. Henry Hoare, who designed the landscaping at Stourhead, probably knew the painting and studied it for his purposes.
