## Commentary

This early painting by the artist illustrates the similarity of his style to that of Rubens. The work is directly inspired by &lt;a onclick=&#34;return OpenOther\(&#39;/html/r/rubens/14religi/75relig.html&#39;\)&#34; href=&#34;/html/r/rubens/14religi/75relig.html&#34;&gt;Rubens&#39;s own version of the subject&lt;/a&gt; made around 1635.
