# Iphigenia, Princess of Diana [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [SLODTZ, René-Michel]() - Date: 1701-1750 - Technique: Marble, height 75 cm ## Commentary Slodtz's work contains significant echoes of Classical sculpture. His Iphigenia has an enigmatic smile, a somewhat vacant look, and pure, smooth features that are obviously meant to be a resurrection of Attic sculpture. Yet he is capable of conceiving large dynamic Baroque compositions.
