## Commentary

Prince Karl Eusebius von Liechtenstein \(1611-1684\) was interested in art and augmented the princely collection. His second passion was to breed horses and he had large stables by Fischer van Erlach in Lednice. This portrait by Johann Georg de Hamilton, the son of the Scottish still-life painter James Hamilton \(c. 1640-1720\), depicts a piebald from the Lednice stud farm.
