COMMENTARY

UNDERLINED TERMS ARE DEFINED IN THE GLOSSARY.

Bindesbøll was a trained architect and worked with the design of ceramics, graphic patterns and designs, silverware, jewellery and interiors. He combined the classic, stringent object with floral, curved, organic patterns and motifs. He was enormously innovative in his expression and one of the pioneers in the style that is today referred to as Art Nouveau. The exhibition at Skagens Museum shows a fine selection of his ceramics, exclusively from the museum's own collection.
