BIOGRAPHY
French sculptor. He was a student of Jean-Pierre Cortot (1787-1843), and among his students was Jacques-Léonard Maillet.
Feuchère was the primary artist in Paris working in small-scale, domestic sculpture in the first half of the 19th century. His statuettes are rendered in a variety of historical styles, though he preferred a Renaissance idiom. Feuchère was involved in many of the sculptural projects of the July Monarchy. He is also noted for the private art collection he amassed; it included paintings by such Italian masters as Leonardo and Raphael, as well as paintings by Dutch masters and contemporary French artists.
