of St Ursula before the City of Cologne c. 1411 on , 60 x 179 cm Wallraf-Richartz-Museum, Cologne

Since St Ursula and her 11.000 virgins had been venerated for over a thousand years in Cologne, and she was a patron saint of the city, her martyrdom is not surprisingly depicted with an extensive view of Cologne. Many medieval monuments are identifiable in the painting. From these the painting can be dated to around 1411. This is the first generally accurate illustration of the important city of Cologne and one of the earliest German painting on canvas.

The artist of the is referred to as the Master of the Small .
