COMMENTARY
UNDERLINED TERMS ARE DEFINED IN THE GLOSSARY.
The buildings from the last ten years of Berlage's life were influenced by Wright and by Functionalism. In part, he looked back to his earlier ideas of severe geometry and loose spatial grouping, while the colours of his materials became lighter. To this period belong the Gemeentemuseum (1927-35), The Hague, housing the city's collection of fine and decorative arts.
The Kunstmuseum Den Haag is an art museum in The Hague in the Netherlands, founded in 1866 as the 'Museum voor Moderne Kunst'. Later, until 2019, it was known as 'Gemeentemuseum Den Haag'.
