COMMENTARY
Diego de Siloé's early works as a sculptor in Italy and Andalusia show the influence of Italian Renaissance sculpture; they are attributed to the impact of Michelangelo, whose work Siloé no doubt studied in Italy.
Perhaps owing to pressure from clients, Diego de Siloé's later sculpture belongs to the most conservative traditions in mid-16th-century Spain.
