COMMENTARY

UNDERLINED TERMS ARE DEFINED IN THE GLOSSARY.

Baron's print was made after the <a onclick="return OpenOther('/html/w/watteau/antoine/2/20italia.html')" href="/html/w/watteau/antoine/2/20italia.html">painting by Antoine Watteau.</a> The print was included in the Recueil Julienne, the compendium of prints after Watteau's work. In fact it was Baron's print that gave The Italian Comedians its title.

The archive catalogues no further works by this artist.
