This painting depicts Flora, the ancient Italian goddess of flowers, in a wooded landscape and surrounded by flowers. It is a collaborative work of Jan Brueghel the Younger and Abraham Govaerts. a landscape specialist. The two artists frequently collaborated on works, particularly those with mythological subject matter. As well as working with Govaerts, Brueghel also collaborated with Peter Paul Rubens and Hendrick van Balen and indeed the figure of Flora appears to be influenced by van Balen's work.
