The Palau de la Música Catalana (Palace of Catalan Music) is a concert hall in Barcelona. Designed in the Catalan modernista style by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, it was built between 1905 and 1908 for the Orfeó Català, a choral society founded in 1891 that was a leading force in the Catalan cultural movement that came to be known as the Renaixença (Catalan Rebirth). It was inaugurated on 9 February 1908.
The Palau de la Música, with its polychromy and ornamentation and its appropriate structural solutions achieved on a difficult site, is his most outstanding work. The double façadethe front or principal face of a building, especially one elaborately constructed; a blind façade is a façade that is purely decorative and does not relate to the structure of the building. with an inner glass wall independent of the outer structure is a characteristic Domènech element.
The decoration of the interior includes the use of tiles, mosaics and some splendid stained glass, especially the large 'Sun' in the centre of the ceiling.
