The Maestà (1308-11)

COMMENTARY

The back crowning panels depict scenes after Christ's resurrection. Six of the original eight panels survived. Most probably the pairs of lost panels, which formed the central apex of the crowning section (panels 4 an 5), will have been The Ascension and Christ in Glory.

You can view the location of the panels in the digital reconstruction of the whole altarpiece.
